The family relocated from Point Pleasant in New Jersey, at 6. She finished her high school education within New Jersey at Red Bank Catholic High School. After that, she went to Catholic University, where she received a diploma in architecture. She began playing violin at the age four, and was referred to by the name Violin Girl. Her performances led to the use of her nickname. She was also an instructor of violin for kids in the region. At the age of nineteen she auditioned for the 6th season of American Idol and sang the 1976 single Free. She was eliminated when she was ranked 16th. She's sung a number of songs like 2009's "The Christmas Song The Christmas Song' as well as the 2010's Out for Blood. She's also been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as well as other TV shows.
