
Anthony David Gonzalez was conceived in Torrance on February 27, 1976. He was raised in southern California and attended Huntington Beach High School, where he was a star player on both the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez continued to excel in those sports at the University of California, Berkeley. He was instrumental in leading the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl, where he tied a school bowl record with nine receptions. Gonzalez later led the basketball team to Sweet 16 in the NCAA basketball tournament a few months later. After that, he left the school for the 1997 NFL Draft. Gonzalez was chosen at number 13 overall by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez played for the Chiefs from 1997 until the year 2008. Gonzalez was transferred to the Atlanta Falcons. He was never able to catch less than 59 passes during Gonzalez's second NFL season.
